The Memoirs of Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petir Mladenov

Abstract

Petir Mladenov (1936–2000) involved in politics for both Bulgarian Communistic Side and Bulgarian Socialistic Side. He passed into Bulgarian history for being the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the longest period (1971–1989) as well as the first President of Bulgarian Republic (1990). He was one the most reliable men of communistic regime. In his memoirs named The Life with Its Pluses and Minuses (1992), his witnessing of and attitude to name change and immigration of the Turkish population living in Bulgaria are highly interesting. Mladenov conveyed his visits to Turkey as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his meetings with his colleagues. He has evaluated the name change incident as a natural process between Bulgaria Muslims that has been holding for centuries.
