Among the broad panorama of celebrations organized to commemorate the Revolution of May in 1910 Buenos Aires, the National History Museum developed a broad project of production and circulation of images and texts. Through iconography and monumental sculpture this project had the aim of constructing a hegemonic story of national history. In this article we discuss about the scope and limits of these initiatives to strength a canonical model of historical imagery, in their tension with other ideas about Argentinian art in the international context.
