Internet Reflections as an Object of Scientific Research: I love the Russian Language Internet Community

Abstract

The present article features the phenomenon of online reflective discourse. The author analyzed online comments published on the Internet community called I Love the Russian Language. The complex methodology united theoretical description, analysis, and systematization. The study revealed the orthographic fixation of the metalanguage comments. Community members appealed to metalanguage reflection when they commented on, assessed, or described a linguistic phenomenon. In their Internet reflections, community members referred either to their personal experience or to language norms and spelling rules, which made their online reflective discourse orthography-centric.
