Hereby, it is intended to document and analyze the contribution of Laura Rodig Pizarro to visual arts from a gender approach. Although her name has been mentioned in several abstracts about the history of Chilean art, it has been normally addressed in a shallow and non-exhaustive way. Therefore, it is proposed to pursue an approximation to her work which allows to comprehend primarily her legacy, whose contribution places her in a period of crucial significance for the history of local art; the 1920s and 1940s. To that end, it is necessary to work from a theoretical framework which links the gender historiography to the sociocultural contexts of artistic production, allowing the reconstruction of the Laura’s progression, whose properly documentary “visibility” provides the necessary elements of analysis to understand her condition as a woman and an artist during the first half of the XX century in Chile.
