BORIS DUBOSARSCHI. THE STRING QUARTET NO. 4: PERFORMANCE ISSUES
Abstract
The article represents an analysis of String Quartet no. 4 by Boris Dubosarschi. Written in 1985, the work represents a homage to the memory of composer Vitali Verhola who died at the age of 38. Th e work consists of 2 movements – Andante and Allegro risoluto and refl ects the tragic events that caused its appearance. Th e present analysis discusses such aspects of the piece as the main idea, the content and form (determines the thematic origins, the leitmotifs and their role in the structure of the piece), as well as aspects of performance (technical advice and solutions). In addition, it refers to the recording of the piece made by the Radio String Quartet in collaboration with the author.
