Nano-organic and Nano bio–Corona Study of Al Doped ZnO Nanoparticles

In a biological fluid, interaction of nanoparticles (NPs) with biological molecules may lead to an in vivo response. Organic and biomolecules compete for the NPs surface, leading to a “corona” and corona of biotin may define the biological identity of the NPs. Thus, knowledge of modification in the absorption and emission spectrum of NPs induced by biomolecules apart from doping is important to tailor NPs for the biomedical imaging applications. In this study, we consider the interaction of organic and biomolecules, such as polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and biotin (BT) with Al doped ZnO NPs. The organic and biomolecular complex with the Al doped ZnO NPs are prepared using established solution method with some corrections. The shift and modification in the absorption and emission spectra of NPs was found to be sensitive to organic and biomolecules as well as to doping and can be attributed to the size or interaction strength of the NPs. These are confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis and electron microscopy images. Raman spectroscopy was done to correlate its structural properties.
