Half of Romania's almost century-long history of Adventist education occurred in Bucharest, at Labirint 116. Here, the School Community was formed and established, under wartime conditions, first the Girls' Industrial Gymnasium, then the "Victoria" Private School for Nursing Sisters, both of which closed down due to changes in Romanian education legislation. The Adventist Theological Seminary also functioned in the buildings of Labirint 116 until 1988, training entire generations of pastors. Despite the precarious conditions in which it began and the drastic limitations encountered during the years of consolidation of communism, Adventist education was the means by which the knowledge and training necessary to fulfill the Adventist mission were provided.
