Sensor application plays an important role in this world due to its reduction in the workload of the people. Various kinds of sensors are found by the researcher and it is differentiated by its measuring parameters. Among these all, gas sensors play an important role as a deterrent from huge accidents and death due to leakage of gas. Most people around the world use liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders for domestic purposes. But, unfortunately, most of the death occurs because of LPG leakage. Therefore, the production of LPG-based sensors is important for mankind. The performance of LPG sensors can be improved by the synthesis method, fabrication technology, and dopant or catalyst or advanced materials. The bandgap of materials can be modified by dopants. The surface reaction rate of sensing material is increased by the catalyst. Morphology of the materials improved by reducing crystallite size, increasing the number of pores, and increase surface area by introducing advanced materials. Nano hetero junction-based material does render easy operation at room temperature. Herein, the recent developments during the last few years on LPG sensors are addressed.
