Microstructure and mechanical properties of dispersion strengthened tungsten by HIP treatment followed by thermal annealing
Abstract
Improvement of brittle mechanical properties on plasma facing materials-tungsten (PFM-W) is required for development of advanced divertors. We have developed dispersion-strengthened (DS)-W-Ti alloys using a new process which is based on a combination of Mechanical Alloying (MA) and Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP). In this paper, the microstructure after thermal annealing and the mechanical properties were investigated on the DS-W-Ti alloy.
