Avispas sociales (Vespidae: polistinae) del suroccidente colombiano, Departamento de Nariño

Abstract

The list of 43 species of social wasps (Hymenoptera: Vespidae: Polistinae) of west of Nariño, Colombia is present with data about elevation range and habitat preferences. The richness decrease fastly with elevation. The genus Mischocyttarus have strong association with humid and forested areas meanwhile Agelaia and Polybia tolerate dry areas. Hand sampling combined with butterflies traps with fish bait, produce satisfactory results fastly.
