Características clínicas y parámetros hematológicos de pacientes con fiebre dengue y mononucleosis infecciosa
Abstract
Abstract: With the purpose to evaluate the clinical characteristics and haematological values in patients with dengue-fever and infectious mononucleosis, a group of 25 and another of 18 patients was evaluated, respectively, between the ages of 12 and 40, that visited the ambulatory unit “Archimedes Fuentes Serrano” in the city of Cumana, Sucre State, over the period of February to October, 2003. Both diseases were diagnosed by specific immune-enzyme tests for the detection of IgM antibodies. A survey was applied to each individual to consider clinical data, and hematological values were also determined in each case. The results obtained were analyzed through methods of Student T and simple frequency. The main clinical manifestations of patients with dengue-fever were: fever, general malaise, migraines, chills, retro-orbital pain and osteoarthralgia, and leukopenia, neutropenia, relative lymphocytosis and thrombocytopenia were also found. The most frequent clinical manifestations in individuals with infectious mononucleosis were: fever, linphadenopathias, pharynge pain, general malaise and migraines, and neutropenia and lynfocitosis were also found. Of all the results obtained, variations were observed in the clinical and hematological variables of patients with dengue fever and infectious mononucleosis. Resumen: Con la finalidad de valorar las características clínicas y parámetros hematológicos en pacientes con fiebre dengue y mononucleosis infecciosa, se evaluó un grupo de 25 y 18 pacientes, respectivamente, con edades comprendidas entre 12 y 40 años que asistieron al ambulatorio “Arquímedes Fuentes Serrano” de la ciudad de Cumaná, estado Sucre, en el período de febrero a octubre del año 2003. Ambas enfermedades fueron diagnosticadas por pruebas inmunoenzimáticas específicas para la detección de anticuerpos de la clase IgM, se aplicó una encuesta a los individuos para considerar datos clínicos y se le determinaron parámetros hematológicos. Los resultados obtenidos fueron analizados mediante métodos de frecuencia simple y t-student. Las principales manifestaciones clínicas de los pacientes con fiebre dengue fueron: fiebre, malestar general, cefalea, escalofríos, dolor retroorbital y osteoartralgia y se encontró leucopenia, neutropenia, linfocitosis relativa y trombocitopenia. Las manifestaciones clínicas más frecuentes en los individuos con mononucleosis infecciosa fueron: fiebre, linfadenopatías, dolor faríngeo, malestar general y cefalea y se encontró neutropenia y linfocitosis. De todos los resultados obtenidos se observó variaciones en la clínica y hematología de los pacientes con fiebre dengue y los que padecen mononucleosis infecciosa.
