THE CONTRIBUTION OF COMMUNITY THERAPY IN THE HEALTH-SICKNESS PROCESS
Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the contribution of community therapy in the health-sickness process of the service users, from the point of view of the health professionals. It is an exploratory-descriptive study, whose research sample was made up of three health professionals including one nurse. The empirical material was produced via a semi-structured interview and was analysed by Bardin’s analysis, with the following categories emerging: Community Therapy in the health-sickness process: Therapy as a space for talking and listening: Difficulties in the implementation of the therapy: Contributions of Community Therapy for psychotropic drug users: and Community Therapy as a synonym for holistic treatment. It was ascertained that by utilizing attentive speaking and listening in a Community Therapy setting, health professionals can find evidence of and prevent psychiatric suffering.
