The connection and continuity of color in the Quran and mosque architecture in Islamic civilization
Abstract
This research aims to examine and explain the element of color as a common keyword, which exists both in the verses of the Qur'an and in the architecture of mosques in Islamic civilization. In the art and architecture of Islamic civilization, colors are used wisely, and this use is done with the knowledge of the symbolic meaning of each color and the general reaction created by that color in the human psyche, and in a holy place - that is, the mosque. The effort of the Muslim artist has always been to take an effective step towards the flourishing of Islamic art in the sacred architecture of mosques by using the knowledge of the principles of color in Islamic architecture. Considering that the artist has used the most original colors (which are mentioned in the Quran) in the architecture of mosques, therefore the main focus of this research is to explain the connection and close connection between the architecture of the mosque and the element of color, which in the text of the Holy Book It is also mentioned. In a descriptive-analytical way from the sources and studies of art history, the conclusion is raised that the Quran was the main source of Muslim architect's thought in decorating the interior and exterior of mosque architecture in Islamic civilization and Islamic architects have paid special attention to the colors mentioned in the Quran to decorate the interior and exterior of mosques.
