Quand étude et conservation sont associées
Abstract
The two belts discovered in Hallstattian burials at the Pfulgriesheim “Kammeracker” site (Bas-Rhin, France) offered an opportunity to jointly carry out their study and conservation. The presence of an important stratigraphy of organic layers and very degraded metallic elements justified the support of the excavation of these clod samples by a specialist in organic materials and a conservator-restorer. The results of this meticulous and exhaustive work are spectacular and provide new and unpublished information on the constitution of this furniture and on the associated funerary act.
