Enviando notícias: vida rural nas colônias do Vale do Itajaí e norte de Santa Catarina

Abstract

This article aims to analyse testimonies of colonists and travellers who described the rural way of life of northern and Itajaí Valley colonies of Santa Catarina. These reports could be usefull both to those who promote the emmigration and those who draw attention to settlement problems. A lot of these descriptions had destiny even before their composition. Thus, the idea of collective memory construction in the making of news sent to Europe is a part of this analysis.
