Migrations dans l’arrière-pays, formes d’occupation des territoires et quilombos itinérants à São Paulo (XVIIIe-XIXe siècles)
Abstract
This article aims to outline an overview of maroon communities existing in São Paulo, from the sixteenth century to the present day. In order to do so, the article examines various documental and bibliographical sources in search of clues that can enable a reconstruction of the formation and disintegration of these communities, which, to this day, are considered uncommon in the region. To convey a sense of the transitory nature of maroons in São Paulo, the article introduce the concept of the itinerant maroon.
