Introduction: adolescence is considered a critical and transcendental evolutionary stage within development due to the series of changes it entails; it is common for different psychiatric disorders to appear at this stage, including neurotic disorders, which constitute one of the most frequent causes of consultation at this stage of life. Objective: to determine the effectiveness of a psychoeducational intervention in parents of adolescents diagnosed with neurotic disorders from January 2017 to December 2018. Methods: a prospective quasi-experimental psychoeducational intervention study was carried out at Policlínico “Chiqui Gómez Lubián” to determine the effectiveness of a psychoeducational intervention in parents of adolescents with neurotic disorders. The study universe was made up of 331 parents and the sample was 19. Results: five psychoeducational needs of the intervention were identified: educational styles, communication, expression of affection, anger management and conflict resolution. According to specialists' criteria, the intervention was considered viable, contributing to information about psychoeducational needs and moderately current, relevant and transcendent. The parents' knowledge about the management of adolescents with neurotic disorders before the intervention was catalogued, in all its indicators, as inadequate. Conclusions: the psychoeducational intervention was effective and considered very useful by the parents, it will help change the family dynamics of the participants and will facilitate the management and evolution of adolescents with neurotic disorders.
