Vicisitudes de un Señorío de Frontera. Espejo (1304‑1382)
Abstract
Espejo, situated to the south of Córdoba, close to the border of the Muslim Kingdom of Granada, became a lordship during the reign of Fernando IV. This lordship was bestowed on Pay Arias de Castro, a nobleman who was well connected with the royal family. The present paper studies the evolution of the town of Espejo during the central years of the 14th century, when it suffered disasters like the Plague and the civil war in Castile. As a result of these adversities, the lordship changed ownership several times and eventually came into the hands of one of the main branches of the Fernández de Córdoba family.
