Ostrácodos bentónicos de dos transectos: bahía de Tumaco y Punta El Coco e Isla Gorgona, Pacífico colombiano
Abstract
This work was carried out on benthonic ostracoda found in the bay of Tumaco and in the area Iying between Punta El Coco and Gorgona island of the colombian Pacifico The samples were obtained from superficial sediments of 12 locations between 4 and 90 m deed, while aboard Pacific cruiser IX-ERFEN VI, in 1986. 20 species (220 individualsl belonging to 15 genera and grouped in 8 families were studied of wich the best represented are Trachyleberididae and Cytheruridae. The species with de major number of individuals are: Palmoconcha laevimarginata Swain and Gilby and Pterigocythereis semitranslucens Crouch. In general it could be said that the population found, correspond to a typical Pacific faunistic grouping, characterized by a large diversity and a low abundance of the group. It is observe that the abundance is determined by certain characteristics of the sampling zone. Thus, there is a low number of individuals in the bay of Tumaco and a mayor number of them in the area Iying between Punta El Coco and Gorgona island.
