Industry-level water splitting requires highly active and stable hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalysts. Herein, an ultrafast self-heating synthesis delivers robust Mo2C/MoC/CNT HER catalysts that can work at 1000 mA cm−2 for 14 days.
