Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication is rapidly emerging as a pivotal technology in the Internet of Things (IoT) landscape, aimed at enhancing road safety, traffic efficiency, and energy conservation. The advent of 5G networks provides an excellent platform for optimizing and scaling V2X interactions through high-speed data transfer, low latency, and broad bandwidth capabilities. This article delves into the multifaceted applications of V2X communication, facilitated by 5G technology, to build a comprehensive, interactive, and dynamic transportation ecosystem. V2X encompasses various paradigms like Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I), and Vehicle-to-Pedestrian (V2P), each of which contributes uniquely to a safer and more efficient road environment. Through case studies, the article evaluates the performance and scalability of V2X over 5G networks and compares it with previous generations of mobile networks. Furthermore, the article explores the challenges in integrating 5G-enabled V2X into existing infrastructures, including compatibility issues, cybersecurity, and data privacy. Additionally, it discusses the prospective benefits of smart cities, autonomous vehicles, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Finally, the paper concludes with an overview of emerging trends in V2X technologies, such as edge computing, artificial intelligence, and blockchain, that have the potential to revolutionize vehicular communication systems further. The article is a comprehensive guide for policymakers, researchers, and industry experts interested in the cutting-edge advancements in V2X communications via 5G networks.
