GLUTEN-FREE DIET – POSSIBLE THERAPEUTIC APPROACH TO VITILIGO
Abstract
Vitiligo is a chronic acquired disease with unknown aetiology, characterized by the appearance of hypopigmentation macules due to the destruction of melanocytes. It is usually an asymptomatic condition that affects patients' quality of life due to their impact on physical appearance. The therapeutic target is repigmentation, but it is not always possible to achieve the therapeutic target. In some cases, stopping the depigmentation areas is a success. The gluten-free diet may represent a new therapeutic approach to vitiligo.
