Proposal for tactical and technical requirements for automatic sighting devices in air defense and their classification

Abstract

The tactical and technical requirements for tracking devices that, if fulfilled, provide efficient engagement using air defense systems are proposed. These requirements are discussed generally, but the required values of the most important sighting device parameters that guarantee successful target tracking and firing are also specified and their feasibility is analyzed. The classification of the considered devices according to four criteria is proposed and the review of contemporary automatic sighting devices is given.
