An electro-optic full adder designed with coupled Si ring resonators for highly dense integration
Abstract
We propose a new design of an electro-optic full adder by using coupled Si microring resonators for highly dense integration. The device size is significantly reduced by using doubly coupled microring resonators as a power divider. A newly designed crossing waveguide is included in the device. Our design reduces the optical waveguide footprint to approximately 60 μm × 100 μm per bit. Numerical analysis of the full adder operation shows the effectiveness and feasibility of our proposed electro-optic full adder.
