Open repair of a dissecting abdominal aortic aneurysm in the early postpartum period
Abstract
A 27-year-old female presented 7 days postpartum with severe back pain, which started shortly following delivery. She was discovered to have a 5.6-cm dissecting abdominal aortic aneurysm with an aneurysmal left common iliac artery measuring 3.6 cm and was taken emergently for open surgical repair. A bifurcated Dacron graft was placed with distal limbs to the right common iliac artery and left internal iliac artery. An additional jump graft was placed from the main body of the graft to the left external iliac artery. The patient’s bypass remains patent 4 years from her operation, and she remains asymptomatic.
