Wavelets transformation: A new method for signal analysis

Abstract

In this paper a new method for signal analysis - wavelets transformation is presented. We consider basic theoretical assumptions and mathematical foundations, signal representation in time-frequency domain, fast algorithms for practical implementation and a method for quantifying signal approximation achieved with wavelets. We also analyze implementation possibilities of the wavelets transformation as well as trends of future development.
