Novi Pazar under the occupation and the destiny of Novi Pazar's Jewish

Abstract

This paper follows the destiny of Jewish residents of Novi Pazar from the arrival of German occupator in Dezevski district in the middle of April 1941 until their internment in the camp at the Sajmiste at the beginning of March 1942. It had ben indicated to the oppresion of Jewish people by the measurements which German occupator conducted with the assistance of local Albanian collaborators, and all in accordance with racist law of Nazi Germany ; furthermore, to looting of their property, and reasons for their collective capture, and deportation in March 1942. This paper was written based on archive material which is to be found in the Historical Archive 'Ras' in Novi Pazar, Historical Archive in Kraljevo, and Jewish Historical Museum in Belgrade, memories of contemporaries, and selected scientific literature.
