The purpose of the study is study of the process of detailing the sections of the thematic navigator with the simultaneous deepening of correspondence between library classifications used in the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine using the example of the section "Health care. Medical Sciences". The research methodologyis based on the use of general scientific and special research methods (generalization, systematic, classification, descriptive). Scientific novelty. The article deals with the issue of detailing the headings of the section "Health care. Medical sciences" of the thematic navigator of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. The importance of differentiation of the headings of the thematic navigator and deepening of correspondence between the classifications applied in the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine is emphasized. Examples of the use of different classes of UDC for building indexes corresponding to the headings of the navigator of a medical orientation are given. It is noted that detailing and equipping the navigator’s headings with the appropriate methodical apparatus with the simultaneous fixation of the corresponding UDC indexes is one of the processes of improving the information and search system of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine, which greatly facilitates the process of scientific processing of documents and determines its quality. Conclusions. Designation of classification indices and headings of UDC headings in the headings of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine thematic navigator, deepening of the extensive system of correspondence between two classification schemes, unification of UDC indices increase the quality of parallel indexing of documents according to different classifications, make it possible to avoid information noise when searching for information on medical topics, guarantee effective access to document arrays and receiving relevant answers to user requests.
