Dairy industry in Saudi Arabia is one of the largest in the world. Nevertheless, the situation of infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) virus infection is not known. It is essential to understand the epidemiology of this disease because of its impact on the dairy industry in the country. The present communication reports for the first time the emergence of clinical IBR in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia. Study projects on the epidemiology of the disease in the country are discussed.
