Lifestyle and health-related quality of life in western Iran

Objective(s): Healthy life style can play a major role in improving the quality of life. The current research was conducted with the aim of assessing the relationship between lifestyle and health-related quality of life in western of Iran. Methods: The current research was a cross-sectional. The study was carried out in Kermanshah, Sanandaj, and Ilam (three cities in west of Iran). The statistical population included all citizens living in these three cities. Using random-cluster sampling, 1152 individuals were studied. The participants answered questionnaires on health-promoting lifestyle and health-related quality of life. Data analysis was performed using SPSS-26 software. Results: The results showed that there is a significant relationship between health promoting lifestyle and quality of life (P<0.05). Also, the results indicated that the citizens living in Kermanshah, compared to Sanandaj and Ilam, showed a higher level of health-promoting behaviors, and as a result, they have reported a better health-related quality of life than people living in Sanandaj and Ilam. Conclusion: The findings suggest in order to improve health-related quality of life it is necessary to make policies and appropriate health care plans in the western provinces of the country, especially for those who living in Ilam and Sanandaj.
