The present article is an analytical update on some of the tendencies observed in the publication of books on childhood and youth in Latin America, in the areas of Human and Social Sciences, through the examination of the bibliographical survey conducted by the journal DESidades from 2015 to 2018. The results reveal a significant number of works published in the latin-american continent and point to Education as the area which concentrates most of these publications. The educational themes of teaching and learning, and curricular proposals are the most featured in the publications, which mainly don’t mention children and young people as an object of discussion and analysis. As such, the study interrogates the invisibility of the subjectivity of those who characterize the fields of childhood and youth. Also, the lack of such themes as indigenous and quilombola children was noted in the field of child and youth studies in Latin America.
