A Research on the Relationship between Organizational Commitment and Organizational Cynicism

AbstractIn the process of transformation of an industrial production society into information and consumer society, organizational commitment has become among the most emphasized concepts in recent years. The organizational commitment is a psychological situation determining the relationship of the employee with his company and providing him the determination to continue to work. Its causes and outcomes have become the major research topic in recent years and many studies conducted in several segments such as nursing, police dept. tearchers..etc. One other aspect of the research is “organizational cynicism” defined as one’s negative attitude towards the company for which he/she works. It consists of telling that the organization lacks sincerity and honesty. The sources of organizational cynicism are mainly personality, violation of psychological contract and flaws in leadership behaviors. However, there is a little research on the possible relationship between organizational commitment and organizational cynicism. With the aim of contributing to the process of discussion concerning the topic, the relationship between organizational commitment and organizational cynicism is analyzed by means of this research. Organizational commitment and organizational cynicism scale was implemented to the employees of three and four star hotels carrying on business in Kayseri and results tried to be discussed according to organizational dynamics.
