Abstract
In recent decades Sarda sheep have spread almost throughout Italy due to their high milk yield aptitude. Genetic improvement has contributed greatly to increase production that in 1999 was 137 litres in 110 days of milking in primiparous ewes (Sanna et al., 2000).
