Secondary School Students’ Views about Cultural Heritage and Preserving Cultural Heritage

Abstract

Culture as a product of humanity has both social and historical features. Cultural heritage is one of the most important resources of society which presents wealth in terms of history and culture. The purpose of this research is to understand secondary school students’ views’ about cultural heritage and, preserving cultural heritage. The research is a descriptive study based on qualitative data. 186 secondary school students attending the fifth and sixth grade participated in the study. Content analysis was used to analyze data of the research. At the end of the study, findings were reached on definition of the cultural heritage, reasons and importance of protecting cultural heritage. Suggestions were put forth in light of results of the study.
