This article analyzes in a general way the actions on domestic and foreign policy undertaken by the current Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. This documentary research revives the vision of Mark Thompson (2016) and Julio Teehankee (2016), two of the main specialists in Philippine studies, whose main concepts are related to the notion of liberal democracy. The main objective is to contrast the actions of the first year of his government with the last one of his predecessor Benigno S. Aquino, showing the political changes under the premise that his presidency gave a total turn to the traditional Philippine politics. In this way, the article is divided into two sections, the first addresses the comparison of the actions undertaken by Aquino and Duterte on domestic policy, the second contrasts the foreign policy.
