The propositions for nursing in assistance to alienated during the IV Latin American Medical Congress (1909) and symbolic effects

Abstract

This is a study developed in the perspective of social history and has as its object the nursing in Psychiatry’s propositions to the assistive system of alienated in the IV Latin American Medical Congress, in Brazil in 1909. With the following objectives: analyze the proposition of Juliano Moreira for assistive system of alienated released during the IV Latin American Medical Congress in 1909; and, discuss the symbolic effects of this proposition for nursing. From the analysis of his speech and with the search of the unfolding of the proposal, we infer that Juliano Moreira managed to exert an effect of theory, making it happen what announced at that time.
