The aim of this thesis is to examine characteristics and motives making new university students dropout, and to study the role of support and educational guidance for students, during students’ social and academic integration and transition period, in countering the former causes and motives. As the ultimate purpose, based on that diagnosis, a series of advices and suggestions allowing universities to take steps against high dropout rates will be proposed.
