Bismil district is located in the Dicle subregion of Southeast Anatolian region. Administratively affiliated to the city of Diyarbakır, the district gained the status of sub-district in 1932 and the status of district in 1936. In the administrative domain of the district having 1679 km2 land area includes the towns of Ambar and Tepe since 1992 and Yukarı Salât Municipality since 1999. There used to be a total of 107 villages within the borders of the district. In 2012, with the enactment of no. 6360 law, the municipalities of the villages and towns were ruled out and they became the neighborhoods of the district. As a result, there is a city and 122 neighborhoods (107 rural) within the administrative domain of the district at present. The district of Bismil is located in the Dicle basin along the bank of the Tigris. On its north and south lie Silvan and Mardin ridge plateaus. In the Bismil depression having a structure complying with the definition of geological and geomorphological basin and this increases the importance of the region in terms of agricultural planning. In this regard, the main purpose of the current study is to determine the usable land area together with the elements of natural and human geography of the Bismil district and to develop decisions on agricultural planning
