The emergence and application of surgical robots is a major breakthrough in contemporary minimally invasive surgery. Since Da Vinci surgical system was introduced into China, the number of operations has grown rapidly, especially in the past decade, its efficacy and safety have been widely recognized. In the field of gastrointestinal surgery, robots are the most widely used in gastric cancer surgery. Compared to traditional laparoscopic surgery, robot surgery has made significant progress in terms of technology, with more precise operations, convenient lymph node dissection, and narrow space operations. However, it also faces shortcomings such as long surgical time and high costs. This article aims to review the development of robotic gastrointestinal cancer surgery and systematically summarize its advantages and disadvantages, and propose prospects for future development trends.
