Opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of drug addicts’ resocialization

Abstract

Background. The continuing growth of drug use in Russia has made it necessary to improve the quality and effectiveness of social assistance to drug addicts. Their conviction for crimes committed in the field of drug trafficking is accompanied by stigmatization and exclusion from society. One of the long-standing problems is the observance of the rights of drug addicts when they return to society. The purpose of the research is to establish the significance of social factors in the process of re-socialization of drug addicts. Materials and methods. The tasks of the study were carried out using comparative analysis. The results of the qualimetric assessment of the impact of social factors on behavior during resocialization measures were compared in two groups of rehabilitators. The normative and legal support for the provision of social services in freedom and in places of forced isolation was also compared. Results. The main factors that improve the quality and effectiveness of drug-dependent persons’ resocialization are identified – the restoration of contacts and relationships with relatives, friends and other socially significant persons, the exchange of information with territorial social services, the conduct of labor training, employment, preferably on the basis of quotas, as well as the possibility of their implementation. Conclusions. The study of the process of drug addicts’ resocialization allowed us to find out that improving the quality and effectiveness of social assistance to drug addicts is possible with the contractual interdepartmental interaction of territorial social services, drug treatment institutions and penal enforcement inspections.
