Intestinal Colicin Infants: Contemporary Approaches to Therapy

Abstract

The article deals with one of the most topical issues in pediatrics — intestinal Colicin infants. The causes and mechanisms of their development were described in detail. In the characteristic of clinical presentation and issues of differential diagnosis of intestinal Colicof functional nature in infants there had been given so called symptoms of anxiety — «red flags» that allow to exclude organic gastrointestinal disease. Particular attention is given to treatment of colic syndrome in infants. A first-line drug therapy is simethicone (Espumisan® L).
