The article examines the pedagogical potential of an outstanding work of French music of the twentieth century, one of the key theatrical compositions in the history of children’s music – Maurice Ravel’s opera-ballet “The Child and the Enchantments”. The essay is devoted to the problem of child aggression and the consequences of destructive activities for child’ inner world. Given the fabulous unfolding of the plot, the work becomes interesting for children. Edification is tempered by entertaining events. Beautiful music gives the fairy tale additional expressiveness and semantic depth. At its core, the work can be considered a pedagogical concept of moral development, using artistic images. It is significant that the authors of the work leave room for various director’s interpretations. This provides a variety of staging solutions. Some of them contain additional pedagogical meanings. The characteristics of such works are included in the article.
