The present investigation is an epidemiological survey of schoolchildren with scoliosis in the public school system of the municipality of Ribeirão Preto. The sample consisted of 378 schoolchildren examined by the one-minute test. We detected 269 normal subjects (71%) and 109 suspected cases (29%) whith required medical evaluation and complementary exams for confirmation of the diagnosis..
