The effects of chronic otitis media on tympanic membrane, hearing function and middle ear mucosa
Abstract
The sixty patients who diagnosed as chronic otitis media at Dr. Lütfi K›rdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital ENT department between January 2000 and June 2001 were investigated on tympanic membrane perforation, hearing lose and the status of middle ear mucosa. The tympanic membrane perforations were analyzed for the types of perforations and of the size. We researched the distributions of type of hearing loses as conductive, mixed and neurosensorial types. We presented the situations of the middle ear mucosa according to the presence of suppuration, cholesteatoma, the signs of tympanosclerosis and the polypoid mucosa.
