Abstract
This article combines case analysis methods to analyze He Youzhi’s reflection of social reality and the integration of traditional and modern values in his comic book creation through historical narrative techniques. The aim is to explore how artists use their works as a medium for cultural inheritance and historical reflection in specific historical contexts. Toynbee’s “Challenge and Response” theory provides an important framework for understanding He Youzhi’s creations, which holds that the growth of civilization stems from successfully responding to internal and external challenges. Emphasis is placed on the artists’ role in the historical context and their responsibility for cultural inheritance. The research results indicate that He Youzhi’s comic books are not only a presentation of visual art, but also a carrier of historical thinking and cultural reflection.
