Archives photographiques : quels usages pour l’archéologie en ville ?

Abstract

This article offers some elements of reflection on the use of photographic archives on the scale of urban sites. It is based on research carried out in the cities of Toulouse and Tours, combining archaeology, visual history and information and communication sciences. In cities as elsewhere, photography is an essential source for current archaeological research, complementary to field data.
