Recurrent primary mucinous carcinoma of the skin
Abstract
Primary cutaneous mucinous carcinoma of the skin is an adenocarcinoma of eccrine glands. However, it may be locally aggressive and can metastasize to lymph nodes. Differential diagnosis especially from metastatic mucinous carcinomas of other organs such as breast, gastrointestinal tract, lung, prostate, and ovary may be difficult. Here we report a case of mucinous eccrine carcinoma with multiple recurrences even after surgical excision and radiotherapy. The patient also concomitantly diagnosed to have chronic lymphocytic leukemia after five years of diagnosis of mucinous carcinoma.
