Sedução, rivalidade e danação em noite na taverna
Abstract
The text is an analysis of the novel Night in the Tavern by Álvares de Azevedo, approaching the characters´ torn experiences, which are the same lived by the hero Don Juan in El Burlador de Sevilla by Tirso de Molina. Beginning with the issue of the duplicity in the romanticism, we find in Tirso de Molina and Álvares de Azevedo the representation of rivalry present in the donjuanesque theme, the search for the hero identity with the rival and the seduction of the wife of the rival as something valuable. However, the damnation traces the destiny of the romantic hero.
