The aim of this paper is to analyse the presence and the sense of literary works and authors cited by Joaquín V. González in some public speeches. We study those collected in the books Política espiritual and Hombres e ideas educadores, both anthologys of the riojano writer's oratory pieces. Some of those pieces are devoted to the eulogy of other writers and most of them were pronounced in academic and educational occasions.
