This study is motivated by students' interest in learning Japanese. Students have difficulty in mastering the letters hiragana and katakana. To overcome these difficulties, an interesting and practical tool or media is needed to help students improve their ability to write katakana letters. Based on this, the author provides an alternative to learning to write katakana by using the Alephbet Katakana application. This study was conducted for five meetings using quasi-experimental research method with pre-test and post-test design. The research instruments used were tests and questionnaires. The population in this study were all students of Pasundan 2 Bandung High School in the academic year 2013/2014 and the samples used were students of class XI IPA 1 totaling 24 students who were studying Japanese. The results of the data analysis obtained the mean value of the pre-test is 18.13 and the mean value of the post-test is 88.23, thus there is an increase after treatment which is 70.1. And obtained the value of t count is 20.32 and the value of t table with degrees of freedom (db) is 23 with a significant level of 5% 2.07 and 1% 2.81. Thus the value of t count is greater than t table (20.32> 2.07). Which means that it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between variable X and variable Y so that the working hypothesis (Hk) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Based on this, it can be concluded that the Alephbet Katakana application can help improve students' writing skills in katakana letters. Based on the processing of the questionnaire results obtained, it can be seen that most students stated that they felt easier to learn katakana letters with the Alephbet Katakana application. In conclusion, Alephbet Katakana application can improve students' ability to write katakana letters. Therefore, the Alephbet Katakana application can be used as a solution as a method of learning katakana letters.
